The P G Department of Commerce, VVFGC has encouraged the final year M.Com students to visit the Government School for Blind on 15th July and 5th August, 2014. The objective of the programme was to develop the social entrepreneurship qualities and create the awareness among the students on social responsibilities. In the programme, the students had an interaction with blind students and teachers of the school and got information about academic activities and the services provided to the blind students. The Braille Writing sheets were distributed to the students during the visit. Ms. Jayashree, student of Final M Com took the leadership of the programme and assisted by Ms. Ramya, Mr. Nikhil, Mr. Goutham, Mr. Sagar, and Mr. Vinay.
Dr. Kumaraswamy, Professor, PG Department of Commerce, Hemagangothri, Hassan addressed the students of Vidya Vikas Post Graduate Department of Commerce regarding the study of Direct and Indirect Taxes as an elective subject during the 3rd and 4th Semester, on the 13th of August 2014. He encouraged students to interact with professionals to gain more professional and practical knowledge. Focus was emphasized on organizing a bridge course for the students opting for Taxation as their subject of specialization so as to enable them to consider the subject as a professional career option. Prof. Balachandra Gowda, Director Academics, and faculty members were present during the orientation programme.
On 19th August, 2014, the Final year M Com students along with MSW students visited Jubilant Generics, Nanjangud, a company which has emerged as an integrated pharmaceutical and life sciences solution provider, offering its products and services across the globe. This initiative was part of college academic activity to give the PG students an insight into the practical aspects of industrial environment and enable them to link theoretical concept with practical aspect through a dialogue between corporate and students. The students were enlightened about the production process, profile, safety measures provided by the company to its employees and also CSR initiatives undertaken by the company. General Manger HR- Anatha Gowda, Senior Manager HR- Subramanyam and Manager-Senthil Kumar briefed the students about the company and interacted with them. Co-ordinators of the respective P G Department Assistant Professors Mr. Harsha and MrGangadhar accompanied the students during the visit.
On 23rd August, 2014, Final year M Com students along with MSW students visited Nestle Co. Ltd, Nanjangud. The objective of the visit was to enhance the practical knowledge about the production process in Maggi Plant and to have an interaction with industry people. Mr. Jeevan, Senior HR Manager briefed the students about the company, production process and packing the products. He highlighted the CSR initiatives taken by the company and precautionary measures which are to be taken to manufacture the food products. The Department has approached the concern person to involve our students in CSR activities. The programme was co-ordinated by Mr. Gangadhar, Asst. Professor, Department of Social Work, VVFGC.
VISIT TO MAHABOODHI CARLA SCHOOL
The M.Com students were invited by the Mahoboodhi Carla School, Saraswathipuram, to conduct leadership and motivation workshop at their school premises for the benefit of their wards. The M.Com students conducted various activities and included story sessions to motivate the school children. As part of their social initiatives Mr. Nikhil Nanjappa, Mr. Chethan Gowda, Mr. Shashi Kumar, Ms. Shruthi, Ms. Khansa Sahima, Ms. Bibi Kubra, Priyanka & Mr.Ashok , from the M.Com department, took active part in conducting the workshop. The M.Com students also found the initiative very resourceful. The care taker of Mahaboodhi Carla School, Venerable Dhammaloka Bhante blessed and appreciated the efforts of the M.Com students and invited them for conducting such workshops in future.
Ms. Lavanya and Ms. Sahana, Final Year students from the PG Department of Commerce proposed a programme to create awareness on counterfeit notes at their village, Nelemane , government primary school in Srirangapatna Taluk. The programme was conducted on the 25th of September 2014. On the occasion, Ms Lavanya and Ms Sahana took the initiative with the support of their classmates,Mr. Nikil, Mr. Ravi Rahul and Mr. Ashok to explain the method of identifying fake currency notes using Power Point presentation. They also created awareness on SAKAL and Jan-Dhan Yojana. They explained how to identify the fake notes and measures to be taken when the fake notes are identified. They also created an awareness on Jan-Dhan Yojana through highlighting the benefits and the procedures to avail the bank account and also distributing the application forms to get enrolled in Jan-Dhan Yojana. N. K Puttaswamy Gowda, Grampanchayath President, Mrs. Rekha, Gram Panchayath Member and Mr. Muralidhar, Head Master, GHPS, Nelemane were the guest of the programme and appreciated the efforts of the students
